Code of Conduct
The Welsh Valley community of students, staff and families is committed to forming a partnership that:
  1. Perpetuates an environment that encourages learning, cooperation, and respect for individuality
  2. Embraces the emotional and physical growth of all students
  3. Fosters a positive and safe environment

In an effort to do so, the staff at Welsh Valley formed a Code of Conduct Committee The committee produced a list of acceptable behaviors for a variety of settings These behaviors help create an environment that meet our goals This list of behaviors has become known as:

BUS

BE THERE BE PREPARED

  • Obtain a bus pass before the end of the day if needed
  • Go to bus area promptly
  • Get on the bus with all necessary personal belongings

BE SAFE

  • Walk to assigned bus area
  • Stay in assigned bus area
  • Keep hands, feet and equipment to self
  • Stay seated while the bus is moving
  • Enter and exit the bus carefully

BE RESPECTFUL

  • Use polite language and tone
  • Use calm voices
  • Handle your own property

BE RESPONSIBLE

  • Always be aware of your belongings
  • Report problems to the driver
  • Get off the bus at your designated stop
  • Take ownership of your behavior

BE COOPERATIVE

  • Make room for others
  • Follow adult directions and reminders immediately without arguing

BE THERE BE PREPARED

  • Use your own locker
  • Be on time for class
  • Carry an appropriate hall pass at all times during classes

BE SAFE

  • Walk at all times
  • Be aware of your surroundings
  • Look where you are walking and keep moving
  • Stay to the right side of the stairs and hallways
  • Keep hands and feet to self

BE RESPECTFUL

  • Use calm voices
  • Use polite language and tone
  • Handle your own property
  • Respect school property

BE RESPONSIBLE

  • Put belongings in appropriate place
  • Carry all necessary materials
  • Report bullying
  • Keep hallways and walkways clean
  • Take ownership of your behavior

BE COOPERATIVE

  • Take turns at lockers
  • Be patient
  • Help others
  • Follow adult directions and reminders immediately without arguing

OFFICE

BE THERE BE PREPARED

  • Must have a hall pass or teacher note before coming to the office during the school day

BE SAFE

  • Walk at all times while in the office
  • Enter and exit the office carefully

BE RESPECTFUL

  • Use polite language and tone
  • Use calm voices

BE RESPONSIBLE

  • Arrangements for early dismissals and bus passes must be made before school starts in the morning
  • Late arrivals must report to the office for a pass
  • Pick up forgotten items during Homeroom only
  • Take ownership of your behavior

BE COOPERATIVE

  • Only come to the office if give permission by a teacher or administrator
  • Office phones are for staff use only use (Students must use the pay phones in Gym and Commons' lobbies)
  • Office bathrooms are for staff use only
  • Follow adult directions and reminders immediately without arguing

OPEN GYM

  • Wear proper shoes

BE SAFE

  • Leave books and instruments in designated area
  • Be aware of your surroundings
  • Keep hands and feet to self
  • Keep ball in appropriate areas

  • Handle your own property
  • Display good sportsmanship

BE RESPONSIBLE

  • Enter the gym with clean shoes
  • Always be aware of your belongings
  • Put balls back in the appropriate place when open gym is over
  • Take ownership of your behavior

BE COOPERATIVE

  • Use the appropriate entrance
  • Enter the gym without food or drink
  • Share the play area
  • Leave for class at the warning bell
  • Follow adult directions and reminders immediately without arguing

  • Clean up your area before you leave
  • Wait for teacher dismissal

  • If time allows use bathroom/water fountain before class begins
  • Ignore inappropriate behavior
  • Take ownership of your behavior
  • Stay on task
  • Do all assigned work to the best of your ability

  • Keep your place in line without budging
  • Use polite language and tone
  • Display good manners

BE RESPONSIBLE

  • Eat at your assigned table
  • Bring pass if you need to exit
  • Raise hand to leave assigned table
  • Throw your trash away and keep area clean
  • Take ownership of your behavior

BE COOPERATIVE

  • Wait patiently in seat for dismissal
  • Follow adult directions and reminders immediately without arguing

  • Leave food in the cafeteria
  • Be in designated areas
  • Assigned monitors retrieve and put equipment away

  • Walk on sidewalks

  • Keep hands to self and feet on the floor
  • Remain seated until you are dismissed

BE RESPECTFUL

  • Sit up straight and stay awake
  • Listen quietly at all times
  • Show appreciation with appropriate applause

BE RESPONSIBLE

  • If time allows use bathroom/water fountain before assembly begins
  • When asking a question, stand and speak clearly with volume
  • Take ownership of your behavior
  • Check your area before leaving
