| Penn Wynne School Facts |
- Our school mascot is the Penguin. When studying the regions of the world, Antarctica is a favorite location! “Proud Penguins” dressed in seasonal colors are displayed to recognize students who demonstrate concern, consideration, and respect for others.
- Our school colors are blue and white.
- Our school hours are 9:05 to 3:25. Lunch and recess is scheduled by grade level for a combined fifty minute period, and each classroom sets its own snack time.
- An active parent run Publishing Company produces more 150 student authored books annually. The books are available in our school library for students to check out are a great source of pride.
- Our pro social skills program is a school and community effort. The school staff, parents, students, recess aides, and bus drivers all participated in the program’s inception in 1999. The nationally recognized “Stop and Think” program incorporates the teaching of social skills, the recognition of positive student conduct, and the celebration of school wide achievements.
- During the 2005-2006, our parents and staff will implement the internationally recognized, research-based Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. Training and activities will involve the entire community in the support of a healthy school climate for our children.
- Students in grades four and five enjoy an early morning Sports and Chorus activities. Students in grade five also participate in an early morning Art Club.
- Instrumental lessons and band and orchestra participation begin in grade four. The lessons occur within the school day and the rehearsals are held before school.
- Students in grade three, four, and five have the opportunity to represent their homeroom classes in a Student Council led by our guidance counselor. The purpose of the Student Council is to involve the entire school in community outreach and school spirit activities.
- The Penn Wynne School community has a long tradition of serving and supporting others. For fifteen years, students, parents, and staff participate in the annual Jimmy Sullivan Walkathon to raise awareness and funds for charities that benefit children. A Helping Hands committee supports the needs of our Penn Wynne families.
