Penn Valley Elementary School recently welcomed The Seventh Principle as they performed Bantaba: The Circle of Celebration in a pair of assemblies highlighting the dances, drums and culture of West Africa as part of their Black History Month celebrations.

The Seventh Principle is an exciting community-oriented dance and music troupe whose mission is to educate and entertain audiences throughout the country on the splendors of African culture and heritage. By bridging the gap with story, song, music and dance, Bantaba provides breathtaking performances, lectures rife with cultural enrichment, and inspirational and interactive drumming and dance displays.

Throughout the educational and fun-filled performance, students and teachers had the opportunity to participate on stage and in the audience while learning about traditional dances and drumming as a source of communication, culture and joy in West Africa. Students became connected to the history of African dance culture while celebrating the unique ability of dance and the arts to bring people together around the world.
