About MES

The entrance to Merion Elementary School

Merion is one of six elementary schools in the Lower Merion School District and is a nationally-recognized Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Currently, we have an enrollment close to 600  students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The academic program is supported by a professional and support staff, which includes 27 classroom teachers. Additional staff in the areas of special education, gifted support, art, music, library and physical education support the total educational program. A full-time counselor and two literacy specialists are also on staff and serve as a resource for children, staff and parents. Students in grades two through five participate in weekly Spanish instruction with one of two world language teachers.

Technology is fully integrated in the elementary curriculum. Students have many opportunities to use wireless technology in the classroom and throughout the building.

Extracurricular activities are available for students in grades four and five. Band, Orchestra and Chorus rehearsals are held in the mornings for participating students. Merion also offers a thriving club and sports program which begins in the early fall and continues until the spring.

The Merion Home & School Association (HSA) is an active group of parents that works tirelessly    to support the greater school community. The HSA partners with the staff in order to provide cultural and enriching experiences for the entire student body.

The combination of an enthusiastic group of children, a dedicated staff and a supportive parent group all help to make our school a caring and supportive place in which to learn. Children are respected as individuals and taught not only to value their personal talents, but also to appreciate the strengths and differences of others.
