Lower Merion High School artists were well-represented among the honorees in the 2017 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards as 10 students brought home an impressive 22 awards across a variety of categories in this year's competition.
The Lower Merion honorees are highlighted by a pair of Gold Key selections. Sophomore Sihan Wu and junior Michael Cheng were each awarded a Gold Key for their respective subsmissions in the Digital Arts and Poetry categories.
This annual competition serves to spotlight the talents of students in grades 7-12, and potentially to discover and nurture future leaders in the art and writing fields. Previous winners include trailblazers like Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath and Truman Capote.
Last year, more than 255,000 works of art and writing were submitted to the competition while only approximately 5-7% of the works submitted received Gold Key recognition at the regional level.
Congratulations to all of this year’s honorees!
