NEWS FROM HUGHES

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • The Lower Merion Police Department will be at your school in the coming weeks to make sure you're wearing your seat belt. Driving comes with great responsibility. You are not only responsible for yourself, but also making sure passengers in your vehicle are buckled up too. Our state law requires anyone under 18 to be pulled over and ticketed if they are not buckled up. So, buckle up, law enforcement will be writing tickets to save lives. Click it or Ticket.
  • Hey Seniors and Juniors! Are you the next Mr. Lower Merion? Applications can be found outside room 218, in your email inbox or on the Mr. LM blackboard. Applications are due to Mrs. Christman by November 9th. Everyone should mark their calendars – the 9th annual Mr. LM will be on Monday, February 26th.
  • Hey seniors – if you have not yet had a senior portrait taken by Legacy, please check your email to confirm your time for your appointment this week. Please note that all appointments will be in the black box, not the auditorium.
  • The Lower Merion High School Writing Center opened on Monday, September 25. The Writing Center hours are from 11:10-11:40, the second half of Lunch and Learn, on A, B, and C days. It is located in the Learning Center. The center's staff, writing fellows, are juniors and seniors who volunteered to be peer tutors. The goal of these student tutors is to help fellow Lower Merion students develop their writing skills, to "provide both an audience for their peers' ideas as well as an opportunity for others to seek genuine improvement in idea/thesis development, form, style and revision." You can receive help with any writing assignment: writing paragraphs, essays, creative pieces, or even college essays. The writing fellows are eager to work with you. Drop by the Writing Center on A, B, and C days, during second lunch.
