Five students representing Harriton and Lower Merion high schools recently competed in the James J. Doyle Oral Proficiency Contest at Plymouth Meeting High School – an annual competition that provides a forum for students to measure their oral foreign language skills against students from other schools throughout the county.
Individual interviews are conducted by foreign language professionals to determine which students are most proficient in their second language.
The District was represented by Spanish learners Gabriel Brodeur (LM) and Ethan Spingarn (LM) along with Japanese language learners Jackson Portnoff (HH), Lexi Cutshall (LM) and Zach Slogoff (LM), who earned a Silver Medal for his performance. The students were accompanied by teachers Señora Myra Rios, Señor Nico Severini and Nakamura Sensei.
