| Immunizations |
Proof of required immunizations must be provided
by parents of school-age children in accordance with the Pennsylvania
Department of Health. Children who do not meet minimum requirements
are not permitted to attend school in Pennsylvania. All children
entering school for the first time must provide proof of having
received the following required immunizations. This complies with
the Pennsylvania Department of Health regulations (28 Pa. Code Sections
23.81-87) and 24 P.S. Section 13-1303a.
- Diphtheria-Tetanus -- Four or more properly spaced doses of
DPT, DtaP, Td, and Dt vaccine with one dose on or after the age
of 4 years.
- Polio -- 3 doses of polio vaccine (oral (OPV) or injectible
(IPV) )
- Measles -- Two properly spaced doses of live measles vaccine.
The first dose must be administered after 12 months of age (or
blood test showing immunity must be provided). A second dose of
the measles vaccine, preferably given as MMR will be required
of all students in all grades in all schools in Pennsylvania beginning
with the school year 2000-2001.
- German Measles (Rubella) -- One dose of live rubella vaccine
after 12 months of age (or results of blood test showing immunity).
- Mumps -- One dose of live rubella vaccine after 12 months of
age (or a physician's written statement that your child has the
disease).
- Hepatitis B -- Three properly spaced doses of the Hepatitis
B vaccine. The first two doses of the vaccine should be one to
two months apart and the third dose six months after the first
dose. This is required upon entrance to school (Kindergarten/Grade
1) and Grade 7.
- Varicella -- Proof of Varicella (Chicken Pox) disease or immunization
required upon entrance to school (Kindergarten/Grade 1) and Grade
7. The Varicella Immunity Statement must be signed by the parent/guardian.
Varicella immunization is one dose from ages 1 to12 or 2 doses
13 years and above (spaced 1 month apart).
