College Admissions

“It may be the best kept secret in high school reform,” said Barmak Nassirian, the associate executive director of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers, in Washington. The IB Program, he said, is generally regarded as “the gold standard of high school curriculum in admissions circles.”

The International Baccalaureate Program offers an outstanding curriculum to help prepare students for the challenges they will face in college and beyond. A student’s decision to participate in the IB Program should not be made based solely on a desire to enhance his or her college applications, though it is clear that the program is widely respected by colleges and universities throughout the world. Neither the Lower Merion School District nor the International Baccalaureate asserts that the pursuit or earning of an IB Diploma is a guarantee of college admission.
