The Junior Olympics has been a part of Lower Merion School District's Elementary Physical Education program for more than 60 years. Each spring, the fifth-grade students participate in a track & field unit and, upon completion of that unit, take part in a fun-filled and competitive culminating event as students from all six elementary schools gather at the Harriton High School stadium for a morning of track and field events, including the Tug of War, High Jump, Long Jump, 60 Yard Dash, the 4 x 100 Relay and more.
Inspired by the District's "One Book" summer reading selection - Steal Like an Artist - this engaging initiative invites students to interpret, change or add to the world around them by doing something artistic each day.
The LMSD contingent placed second in Pennsylvania, while Ted Dubbs earned a state title in the individual transit bus division. Dubbs then finished in third place overall at the 47th Annual School Bus Driver International Safety Competition in Indianapolis, Indiana.
