Harriton hosts annual Arts & Music Festival

Harriton High School recently celebrated their world class arts education programming during the annual Arts & Music Festival featuring an exhibition of student-created art work and the Spring Concert as hundreds of classmates, parents and community members came out to support the event.

Twelfth grade art students exhibited their "Senior Panels," which featured a collection of their work during their four years at Harriton, while underclassmen presented some of their favorite pieces created throughout the current school year. The artistic acumen and creativity of the Rams was on full display throughout the collections of drawings, paintings, metal works, jewelry, pottery, and photography created by students of all grades and levels under the guidance and support of the dedicated teachers from the Harriton Art Department. Students were celebrated and recognized in a number of ways, including words of praise from Principal Scott Weinstein, and kudos from the all those in attendance.

The evening also featured the Spring Concert under the direction of Mrs. Shannen Hemmel and Mr. James Joseph, who led the Concert Choir, Lab Jazz Band, the Chorale, Pitch Please, and the Jazz Ensemble through a series of outstanding performances. The Concert Choir performed several songs including Three Contemporary Latin Settings, My Old Kentucky Home and Pinewood Mountain, before the Lab Jazz Band entertained the audience with The Girl From Ipanema and Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. The evening continued with The Chorale's rendition of several songs including My Spirit Sang All Day, and Born This Way. Pitch Please engaged the audience with Valerie and Somebody That I Used to Know, and the evening ended with the Jazz Ensemble's impressive renditions of songs by Miles Davis, Hoagy Carmichael and Stevie Wonder.

Congratulations to all of this year's participants on excellent evening!
