Leadership & Governance

Lower Merion School District is led by an elected Board of School Directors, a superintendent and a team of senior administrators. Collectively, this group is responsible for ensuring a culture of excellence and achievement in our schools.

The nine-member Board of School Directors sets the District's fiscal and educational policies, approves the annual budget and votes on school matters in consultation with the District's educational leaders. The Board is also responsible for hiring and evaluating the superintendent. Directors are elected at municipal elections on odd-numbered years to serve four-year terms.

The superintendent provides the day-to-day direction, leadership and vision for the District and its educational programs. The superintendent is supported in this effort by a cabinet of senior administrative leaders that represent various functions throughout the District. The work of the District's leadership team is guided by the goals set forth in the District's strategic plan.
